Ulrik Birkkjaer | Founder of Art for Life | Principal Dancer and producer

Coming from a background as a Principal Dancer with The Royal Danish Ballet and San Francisco Ballet, Ulrik Birkkjaer has previously worked with the most brilliant leaders in the dance world including Alexei Ratmansky, Christopher Wheeldon and Benjamin Millipied. Ulrik has produced several stage productions with dancers from The Royal Danish Ballet, which toured in the USA, UK, India, Kenya, Spain and Italy.

Ulrik attended The Royal Danish Ballet School from 1992 to 2002 in Copenhagen, Denmark and School of American Ballet, summers of 1998 to 2005 in New York, USA. He was announced Principal Dancer at The Royal Danish Ballet in 2002 and in 2017 he moved to San Francisco to become a Principal Dancer at The San Francisco Ballet. Ulrik has guest starred with The National Ballet of China, The Inoue Ballet (Japan), The Lithuanian Ballet and Los Angeles Ballet as well as participated in galas worldwide.

Ulrik also holds The Queen Ingrid memorial grant and the gold medal of the Erik Bruhn Competition.
